Learning outcomes and content

This course is suitable to early childhood education teachers, teacher students and for you who are interested in participation.

Student

  • is acquainted with the word participation and recognizes the meaning what participation and to participate means to a child/pupil
  • can analyze, argument and reflect both her/his own and also her/his organization´s way to help children/pupils to participate
  • recognize a child´s /pupil´s participation in daily life and the meaning of participation to a child´s/pupil´s development, what participation means in schooling and how to meet, scaffold a child/pupil – and how to hear a child´s /pupil´s voice
  • is able to develop her/his pedagogical thinking and learning new methods to increase participation in the organization

Content

The complexity of participation is scrutinized on the view of children/pupils, parents and teachers/personnel. Children´s well-being is scrutinized on the view of pedagogical quality which means children´s/pupils´ own stories, agency, everyday practices and meaning of sociocultural surroundings.
